Another addition to the Book of Ra series of games, this Dice offering brings a bit more of a unique edge to it. Obviously, it includes dice on its reels as well as the standard setup and symbols from the original game.
Yet, how exactly do these affect gameplay? Well, that’s what we’re here for – to inform you. Book of Ra Dice actually comes under the banner of Greentube – the subsidiary of Novomatic.
Yet, this makes it all the more endearing, as high-quality graphics tend to be much more of a focus for Greentube. The game was released midway through 2018, and you’ll still get to visit an Ancient Egyptian site to go exploring for lost relics.
Loading this game up will present you with a standard five-reel, three-row layout, and across that layout, Greentube has added a total of 10 paylines.
Those lines are set in place as well, so you won’t have any option to customise them one way or another. Yet, you can still adjust your wager, which is done with the + and – buttons found at the bottom of the reels.
With them, you’ll be able to choose a bet of between 10 and 10,000 coins per spin.
You can hit the maximum wager quite easily – just by using the Max Bet button. Additionally, you can use the Autoplay function to set the reels off spinning several consecutive times at the same wager level.
Visually, Book of Ra Dice is exactly how you’d expect it to be – high-quality imagery runs through the slot, and you get to experience that Ancient Egyptian atmosphere while playing.
The background depicts this nicely, while the symbols upon the reels begin with the playing card symbols running from 10 through to A.
Each of these has a different side of a dice on display on it too, which is where the game’s title comes from. Alternatively, the symbols can also come with a dice face that features a hieroglyph on instead.
And don’t forget to watch out for the explorer, as he can pay out the highest standard symbol reward to you.
Wild Scatters Lead to an Expanding Symbol
As with the other games in this series, the wild symbol also operates as the slot’s scatter addition. It is the titular book of Ra that represents this one, so wherever it shows up, it will substitute for all other standard symbols within the slot.
This means that it can be very useful when it comes to forming winning combinations across the five reels. Yet, that’s not the only function of the book symbol. It’s also a scatter at the same time, which means that it can trigger Free Spins as well.
Essentially, to do this, you’ll need to spin at least three of the scattered wild symbol into view in any position. This will then start the Free Spins function up, with 10 spins being awarded to you for doing so.
Prior to the Free Spins getting underway though, the game will choose a random symbol from those considered to be standard ones, and this one will become an Expanding Symbol for the duration of Free Spins.
Therefore, wherever it comes into view on a reel, it will expand to cover the entire column, thereby making it slightly easier to form wins with that symbol.
Last of all, the Gamble Round has also been added to the Book of Ra Dice slot. This will automatically trigger for you once you form a winning combination on the game’s reels.
You don’t have to play it, but if you choose to do so, then you stand the chance of doubling your winnings from the triggering round. The side game that you need to play requires you to guess the colour of a face-down playing card; red or black.
If you get this right, then the multiplier is added to your winnings and you can guess again, if you like. Get it wrong and those same winnings are lost.
The Overall Verdict
Book of Ra Dice may be an alternative in the game series from Novomatic, but it doesn’t really offer all that much that’s different. Yes, there are dice symbols on top of the basic symbol inclusions, but these don’t actually do anything.
They’re just there quite randomly, and that’s a bit of a downfall. We’d like to see the dice rolling and providing some alternate pay-out or something along those lines.
Alas, on the whole, Book of Ra Dice still remains as an intriguing game from the Novomatic brand.
